Questions For Christian Leaders

If your calling is in the area of God's work, you'll repeatedly have to ask yourself some questions. One of which is: Am I responsible to anyone? If you are, fair enough. If not, you're walking on a dangerous rope. You may just be suggesting that you are superhuman. It's only safe to leave such a person in the able hands of God. He knows each of us inside-out. He knows when to provide advice, when to strengthen us because of our streams of weaknesses. For when authority opts to do without accountability it becomes mindless thereby and sooner than later disaster becomes the outcome. Are my priorities right? The character of priorities can be tricky. When priorities shift out of order, we can expect dangerous consequences. Our health and success can fail and suffer if our priorities are left uncoordinated, or get coordinated too late. Am I out of dated in my walk with God? If that doesn't produce an automatic no, you're close to the borderline. A daily controlled presence with God is your surest protection. "Your word I have treasured in my heart that I may not sin against you" (Psalm 119: 11 NAS). I once heard someone say, if you're not spending your time with God, you're spending it with something else that commands more respect to you than Him. Mind the word 'treasured' in the quoted passage. It means to guide, or guard, or protect something, to shield it against threat. Be disciplined enough to keep a date with God's word on daily basis, with minimum interruptions. Offer your mind to God each day when it's fresh. "...Feed my sheep" (John 21: 16 KJV). If by Saturday, you're not stable because you've yet to prepare something for Sunday, shift your priorities. Begin to delegate. Leadership without delegation is a misnomer. "But select from among you...men ...whom we may put in charge of this task. But we will devote ourselves to prayer, and to the ministry of the word." (6: 3-4 NASB).
