Christian Relationship Advice

Would you be successful in your life and in your love life? Christians have many advantages in life. One of the most important benefits is the practical teaching of the Bible on the development of our emotional intelligence. Our study this week, if taken seriously, we will increase our "QI" emotional, useful in our relationships with our colleagues, our spouse, our children and our friends. Let's dive in without delay! I. Mutual submission 1. Read Ephesians 5:21. What does "submit" to other Christians? (The Wuest's Word Studies says that it has military significance: as in the alignment of the troops for battle. Troops submit to the organization.) a. How mutual submission logically? In the military there are soldiers of different ranks. Those of a higher rank should they submit to those of a lower rank? General How could they submit to civilians? Officers with new recruits? (Mutual submission is unlike anything I've heard in connection with the army. Paul has given us a new concept.) b. What is the relationship between the "fear of Christ" and mutual submission? (As I find it difficult to focus my mind on the idea of??"mutual submission", it must mean that our common Lord creates in us a special deference for each other.) c. If Jesus is the basis of a submission to each other, it suggests he on the nature of the submission? (First, it means that we are only talking about the submission part of the code of conduct for Christians. Secondly, it appears that the absolute mutual submission never take into account any type of organization. Thus, it must mean bid in order authorities established by God. Paul continues to explain the order of authority of God. continue so.) II. Between spouses 1. Read Ephesians 5:22-24. What does it mean for a woman to be "submissive" to her husband? (There are at least the same restrictions as those we found in Ephesians 5:21, namely the code of conduct for Christians.) a. Think back to Ephesians 5:21. A husband should he submit to his wife? His wife is she the only person to whom he should not submit? b. Therefore Ephesians 5:21 tells us to submit to each other, the instruction given to women to submit to their husbands is not it redundant? (We concluded that the following verses Ephesians 5:21 was a difficult explanation of the idea of??mutual submission absolute. Example, Ephesians 5:22 gives us more information.) c. Paul tells us that the submission of a wife to her husband is similar to the submission of the church to Jesus. In what way the church submits it to Jesus? (She submits to his leadership full of love and his example of life.) d. This statement of submission on the part of women is it limited to the culture of Paul's time? (Paul says nothing about the culture.'s All benchmarks focus on Jesus and his relationship with the church. This is a timeless reference.) 2. Read Ephesians 5:25-27. In what sense is it Jesus "gave himself" for the church? (The whole life of Jesus on earth was an example of self-sacrifice. He had virtually no good. He even gave his life for others.) a. Should a husband to love his wife the same way selfless? (Yes.) b. What is the purpose of the obligation of the husband to abandon himself to his wife? (The consecrate the holy.) i. How are things going on? (Read Romans 12:20-21. This is a theme of Christianity. By abandoning ourselves to others, we win Jesus. A husband who renounces himself to his wife, God wins.) 3. Read Ephesians 5:28. This is one of my favorite texts in the entire Bible. If you want a good marriage, pay attention to this statement: "He who loves his wife loves himself." Although Paul's writings are complex, but this statement is not. 4. Read Ephesians 5:29-30. Husbands, love your wife you as much as you love yourself? Do you take care of it as much as yourself? 5. After reading these instructions to husbands and wives, can you imagine a husband require his wife to submit to him? (The instruction for women to submit is there, but husbands are exhorted to abandon themselves to their wives, to love their wives as they love themselves. Such an attitude on the part of the husband is precisely what will cause a woman to voluntarily submit. verbally assaulting his wife telling him to submit is hardly effective. Submission to husband's sacrifice like no submission that the world understands.) 6. Read Ephesians 5:31-33. It means for a man is to leave his father and mother? a. A married man should live with his parents after convol© the knot? b. A married man should spend more time talking to his parents as his wife? c. A married man should share his marital dispute with his parents? A married woman should she share her marital disputes with his parents? Is it compatible with the directive to be "one flesh"? (When a spouse goes with his parents to rally to his cause against the other spouse, it follows that a resolution of the problem almost impossible. Spouse with the support of parents has no reason to compromise. L other spouse will then be angry and frustrated. The best thing for those who are "one flesh" in marriage is to solve the problems between them or with the help of a professional fair.'s family members Biased make things more difficult.) d. Have you ever heard women talking to each other and setting uncomplimentary things about their husbands? Is it compatible with the instruction to meet her husband? e. Have you ever heard husbands say uncomplimentary things about their wives? Is it compatible with the instruction to love his wife? III. Between parents and children 1. Read Ephesians 6:1-3. What logical relationship there between a long and pleasant life and honoring his parents? (If you leave the trail, you would listen to the instructions of someone who has already done this hike before. It is simply common sense. Parents have already walked the path of life. Maybe not have they not follow the best route, but they probably know the best route to follow. consecrated to God Parents have the added benefit of having the overview of the Creator of Life. follow the instructions of parents dedicated to improving the quality of God and the duration of life.) 2. Read Ephesians 6:4. Paul contrasts the irritation of children with their elevation through education and admonition of the Lord. How do they oppose? (Parents sometimes get lost between their own rules and those of God. Deuteronomy 4:2 tells us not to add or subtract to the word and commandments of God. Establish your own rules boring (as did the Jewish leaders the time of Jesus) or fail to enforce the rules of God (as did the Jewish leaders before the Babylonian captivity) is wrong in both cases. Err on one side or the other will irritate your children.) IV. Between employer and employee 1. Read Ephesians 6:5-7. This board is it applicable to employees? (Yes.) a. The nature of our employer should it change the way we work? (No. We work as if we were working for God.) b. When God observes it your job? (At any time). i. How long should we be diligent? c. What is the role of trade unions in this relationship? (Would you strike against God? Balfour The up and would you enforce your rights?) 2. Read Ephesians 6:8. That, ultimately, we pay for our work? (God will give us the ultimate reward for our work.) 3. Read Ephesians 6:9. What obligations do employers have to their employees? What does Paul mean by saying "do the same things with regard to your slaves?" (I think it refers to the previous verse, employees' work as if working for God. Employers should make decisions worthy of God in their relationship with their employees. They should not abuse employees.) a. This obligation extends it to other leaders in the hierarchy? God calls he also them that they do not threaten those who are u

Can Christians Lose Their Salvations?

Many Christians assume that they will get saved by just believing that Jesus has risen from the dead on the third day. After you have accepted Jesus as your Lord, you must stop sinning. You must live a holy life for God. If you sin, you will end up in Hell. You must obey every commandment in the Bible. The Bible is the word of God. It contains the message that God wants to speak to us. God is holy so we must set apart our lives as holy for him. It is important that you read the Bible so that you know God's commandments. If you don't read the Bible, you can easily be deceived when you hear someone preach a different gospel. If you read the Bible, you will know whether what the person preach is in accordance to the Bible (1 Thessalonians 5:19 - 22). You must confess all your sins to God and ask him to use the blood of Jesus to wash away your sins. Before you confess your sins, you should forgive others. If you forgive others, the Father God in heaven will also forgive your sins (Matthew 6:14 - 15). As children of God, we must exhibit the fruits of the Holy Spirit. There are nine fruits of the Holy Spirit including love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (Galatians 5:22 - 23). Christians must keep the Sabbath holy. On the Sabbath, you must not work or buy things (Exodus 20:8; Jeremiah 17:27). You must not play games, watch televisions, and etc on the Sabbath day. The Sabbath day is to be dedicated to God completely. You must come to church on the Sabbath day. You must keep yourself away from all kinds of sins including sexual immorality, jealousy, hatred, witchcraft, addictions, and etc. Whenever you face a problem, you must discuss with God. You should ask God to help you instead of looking for solutions that are visible. If you depend on Jesus for your problem, Jesus will hear your prayer and answer it. You must be patient and persevere in your prayer. When you pray, you must ask reasonably and have faith in what you pray for. In this way, God will answer your prayer. The two greatest commandments in the Bible are to love God with all your heart, soul and mind and to love your neighbors as you love yourself (Mark 12:30 - 31). If you love God, you will love others. When someone has a need and ask you for help, you must not reject him. You must do what you can to help him. You must not just pray for yourself. You must also pray for others. Every day, you should spend some time to worship and pray to God. You must give your tithe to the church.

How Should Christians Act and Dress?

Everyday our heads get filled with all kinds of thoughts and ideas: Some good, some bad, some questionable. As Christians, how do we sought everything out and decide which are evil and which are good; which to act on and which to ignore? This sounds like a simple procedure, but our choices are often complicated by the world's worship of trends and methods that may exist in a gray area for Believers. It's those kinds of decisions that can represent a moral or spiritual dilemma for Christians. The Bible gives us a good model which we can use to recognize temptations thrown at us by the devil in 1 John 2:15-17 (KJV): €Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.€ It's easy for Christians to recognize the obvious temptations and resist them even when the devil wraps these in pretty packages. He often sells adultery to Christians that are not living for God by reminding them how bad their marriage is or how their spouse has failed them. He uses persuasion as a means to make us enter into sin. Believers that are in the Word and living for God will not be easily swayed by these kinds of persuasions. The real danger for Christians is that we will be tempted or even forced into a situation that causes us to compromise our moral, ethical or spiritual standards, or one that drives us or others away from the things of God. When I was young I attended public school. I became a born-again Believer at the age of fourteen, so I spent most of my high school years as a Christian facing all kinds of occasions that required me to make decisions about situations that were not easily discerned as necessarily good or evil. I was not shy about my Christianity, but I never shoved it down anyone's throat either. I invited friends and classmates to youth Bible studies and events knowing that they would hear the gospel until I learned how to lead people to Christ myself. I brought my Bible to school occasionally and read it during lunch or free time. If anyone asked me questions, I tried my best to answer them at that time or later. I sat through endless class lectures which always seemed to ignore anything that had to do with God or the Bible unless it was to disprove them. When I was faced with a science teacher who was a rabid Evolutionist, I learned to gently disagree with him. I knew it was necessary for me to learn what he was teaching and I did, but I never agreed with it and I politely voiced my objections. We agreed to disagree and that was easy. Not so easy was being pulled between the various religious factions in and outside of my school. Some Christians felt that any Believer who supported the idea that men can have long hair (a popular hairstyle choice in those days) or that women could wear pants was disobedient. I chose short hair and a conservative look which I felt honored God, but had no problem with Christians who had long or short hair or with women who wore dresses or pants because those were the choices they made. I learned that these kinds of things were side issues that I believe the devil could easily use to distract Believers from the fundamental teachings of the Word and doing the Will of God. Apart from the clothing issues, it was frustrating to watch Christians argue about how Believers should behave. Some said that Christians had no business being involved with things like amusements, sports or politics. They believed that 2 Corinthians 6:17 (Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you) taught them not to be involved with any worldly amusements, events or issues. I examined all their arguments and decided that these matters required an acid test. My acid test was a simple one: If Christ came today and found me dressed a certain way or involved with a certain activity, would I be ashamed before him? If so, that was that. As the old saying goes, €When in doubt, throw it out!€ I would probably not be ashamed if the Lord came and found me playing sports unless it was on a Sunday and kept me away from Church. However, I would not want Him to come and find me watching a movie with nudity and filthy language. As far as dress goes, I believe that's a personal choice. I do recommend that Christians exercise their liberty responsibly by dressing in a modest fashion. Every Christian is different and the devil knows our weak spots. He tempts us based on what will most successfully drive us away from God. One Believer's weak spot may be another's strength. This is why we must be careful to make choices that compliment, rather than complicate, our lives as Christians. We must also be sure that our choices do not cause other Believer's to sin or backslide. The Bible gives us an excellent example of all this in Romans 14:19-21 (KJV): €Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another. For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence. It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.€ Christians must make their choices by standards that are far different from the ones used by the world. As the Kosher hot dogs commercial has pointed out for many years, €We answer to an even higher authority.€ We not only have to decide what is right for us, but what is good for our fellow Christians, and what will allow us to maintain a solid testimony before the world. The saying may be old, but it's true: Christians cannot live like their going to Hell all week and then act like they are going to Heaven just on Sunday. "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." - Romans 12:2 (KJV)

Living the Precious Christian Life

The life of the Christian is precious. We all see life from a different point of view; some view life from a positive way, others are more negative. The question is how Jesus sees the life of His children. Is our life something negative from Jesus' Perspective? Or does Jesus think that our lives are beautiful? Matthew 6:25 "Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; or about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?" It is clear by this Bible verse that our lives are valuable to Jesus. He encourages us not to waste our time worrying about the material possessions or needs. Yes, we all need to take care of our material needs, but the Bible puts our own lives as the most important. God wants for us to appreciate His blessing. The main thing we need to learn is to give our life the correct importance. Jesus gave his own life in the cross of Calvary to save us. Our existence is very important to God. He wants our communion with Jesus. If we focus on Spiritual things first, God will provide our material needs. Of course, we must have goals, but let's put our trust in God and pray for our decisions in life. Matthew 10:31 "Do not fear therefore, you are of more value than many sparrows." What a beautiful verse. The meaning of this scripture is deep because if we take a look at nature, we will find out the beauty of the creations of God. The forest is beautiful, the sea, the sky, the animal kingdom. All of that has been created by God; but the most beautiful of all creation, is us. Matthew 16:26 "What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?" You are precious before Jesus' eyes. For Him you are more important than anything else in the universe. You can live your precious life knowing that Jesus loves you. We must wake up to this reality and appreciate what Jesus did for us. The Lord wants us to live our precious Christian life trusting in him because He will take care of His children.

The Revelation of God's Love

The crucifixion of Jesus Christ is the heart of the Gospel. The Old Testament symbolized the death of Christ and in many ways all of the predictions found fulfillment on that day when Jesus hung for six hours on the cross. The events leading up to Christ's death are all filled with emotion, but it is when the Lamb of God becomes the substitute for man that we stand speechless before the infinite grace of God. God "shows His love for us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died." We were so far from being good, so far from God's expectations of us, that nothing in us offered any inducement to such a sacrifice as our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We were not worthy of God sending His Son to die for our sins. And therefore, we must realize that we have not earned the love of God. We have not deserved the sacrifice. Yet, it is because of that unmerited quality that we glory in the cross. If we are honest with ourselves, we have to acknowledge that Christ did for us what we would never do for one another. We barely have time for each other much less carry another's burden; take on someone else's sins. We are into ourselves, our feelings, our concerns. As horrendous as it is to say, killing has become commonplace in our society and world. We are not shocked by it anymore - we do not grieve or groan over it anymore. We accept it, digest it as bad tasting medicine and go on with our lives. But in Jesus Christ, we encounter a man who was more than a man. We see in His cross the manifestation of a goodness which transcends all human standards. And, if His death declared a love that is more than human, we can only conclude that this is a revelation of what the love of God must be. Everything that we have learned, all that tribulation and its related experiences have taught us rests on the assured conviction that the love of God supports our lives. It is this love that God has poured into our hearts. Moreover, the joy which this creates is not simply one of satisfaction; it strengthens the will so that we can resist sin and defeat it. God's love becomes the central motive in our lives. There is no way possible for us to fully understand the height and depth, length and breadth of God's love for us. Even if we could perfectly grasp what God has disclosed in Christ's death, we are still left hanging groping for a suitable way to articulate what we have discovered. The best we can do is utter Paul's words, "God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8. While men and women were yet sinners, they learned that they could come to Him and in coming they found forgiveness and a new life. The publicans and the harlots heard that they had a better chance of entering God's kingdom than some whose prestige and respectability was above suspicion. They heard the good news from Jesus, who taught them what friendship and compassion and restoration really meant. When we look at Jesus, we still see the love at God at work. Jesus was crucified on Passover day. He had eaten the last supper with His disciples the night before. He had prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane, was arrested and before 9:00 a.m. the next morning He had been tried 6 times; 3 times before a Jewish group and 3 times before a Roman court. When He refused to speak in His own behalf, false witnesses were hired to testify against Him. They placed on Him a crown of thorns and spit upon Him. At His crucifixion they gambled for His clothes. They put Him on a cross and crucified Him between 2 thieves. People walked by and laughed at Him, mocked Him, made fun of Him, cursed Him. And yet, in the midst of all this humiliating and dehumanizing treatment, God was at work. That which the satanic forces of evil did in an attempt to eliminate Jesus of Nazareth was the one act that God used to bring redemption to the world. Yes, Jesus was a man but more than a man. Those who knew Him in the flesh testified concerning His true nature. At Caesarea Philippi, Simon Peter called Him, "the Christ, the son of the living God." John the Baptist testified, "Behold the Lamb of God which takes away the sins of the world." After the resurrection, Thomas exclaimed, "My Lord and my God." It is on Calvary at the death of Jesus that we see the heart of God as no other place in the Bible. When Jesus died on the cross, God put all the suffering every sinner deserved, past, present and future, on the back of Jesus. For Christians everywhere, in the cross of Christ we glory. We can never forget that we are redeemed through the blood. The same blood that washed us from our sins signed us up to a life-long commitment to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Every time we think of Calvary we should remember anew that it is not through works of our own, but God's love and mercy that we are children of the living God. Because while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/81960

Is Living the Christian Life Hard?

Some people wonder: is being a Christian hard today? The true answer lies not with being Christian - but with the person themselves. Being Christian can help someone have a great anchor in their life. The Christian life gives one's life greater meaning than leading a nonspiritual life. When you believe in Heaven and that morality has a deeper meaning - you are more conscious of your actions. People that truly understand we live to be reborn into Eternal Life lead different lives than those simply living to gather up as many goodies as they can while here on Earth. If you realized that this Christian life was simply a "dress rehearsal" - wouldn't your life be different from those without spiritual meaning? One of the most important things in Christian life is prayer. Many Christians pray daily and some pray several times each day. Some Christians like to think they spend their entire Christian Life praying without ceasing - as if in constant connection with God. When you pray you don't have to use fancy or elegant words. You can simply talk to God as if you would talk to a trusted friend or favorite teacher. Because that is what God is, a trusted friend and favorite teacher. God is always there when you welcome Christian life and Christians know they can talk to God about personal matters or anything else that concerns them -- at literally any time of day. There is no specific time to pray. You can be in an elevator, grocery shopping or waiting for a business meeting to start. These are all ideal times for you to pray with God - even though some would not identify them as the ideal times to pray with God. Any quiet moment you want to talk to God is the ideal moment for you. Matthew 7:7 says, "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you." This is a favorite scripture of many Christians about prayer. This scripture does not talk about prayer being magical - but more that we can trust that God will listen to our prayers and will respond to them. God always responds to our prayers -- we can trust that God will respond to our prayers when we accept and welcome Christian life into our hearts. Prayer is one of the facets of Christian life. Many Christians also find great peace and solace in belonging to a church in their community. Church is not just a time to connect with God but also with other fellow Christians that share your beliefs. The fellowship of church can be calming and heartwarming. Many churches have activities for both adults and children to enjoy. Many friendships and romances are started at church, as this is an ideal place to meet people who share your values. 1 Corinthians 13:4 says, "Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant." This scripture is another favorite of Christians because it talks about love and how Christians see and express love in its purest form. This scripture is very popular to use at weddings or other romantic celebrations like anniversary parties or the renewal of vows. When you read this scripture, you realize that love in its very purest form is the expression of God's love for us. That love has no expectation of us to be anything other than exactly who we are. That when you love someone - you are not changing them or manipulating them. This sadly, is often not the love we see in the media of today. Mature Christian love is very different from the way love is often depicted in movies, television shows and even books. A Christian life is always full of love because when you let God into your heart -- you are filled with love and you attract the relationships you are meant to have. You'll find love when you welcome God's love for you into your life. Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/2566393

Should A Christian Marry An Unbeliever?

Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers. This is closely connected in sense with the previous verse. The apostle is there stating the nature of the remuneration or recompense which he asks for all the love which he had shown to them, He here says, that one mode of remuneration would be to yield obedience to his commands, and to separate themselves from all improper alliance with unbelievers. "Make me this return for my love. Love me also; and as a proof of your affection, be not improperly united with unbelievers. Listen to me as a father addressing his children, and secure your own happiness and piety by not being unequally yoked with those who are not Christians." The word which is here used (eterozugew) means, properly, to bear a different yoke, to be yoked heterogeneously.--Robinson, (Lex.) It is applied to the custom of yoking animals of different kinds together, (Passow;) and as used here means not to mingle together, or be united with unbelievers. It is implied in the use of the word that there is a dissimilarity between believers and unbelievers so great, that it is as improper for them to mingle together as it is to yoke animals of different kinds and species. The ground of the injunction is, that there is a difference between Christians and those who are not so great as to render such unions improper and injurious. The direction here refers, doubtless, to all kinds of improper connexions with those who were unbelievers. It has been usually supposed by commentators to refer particularly to marriage. But there is no reason for confining it to marriage. It doubtless includes that; but it may as well refer to any other intimate connexion, or to intimate friendships, or to participation in their amusements and employments, as to marriage. The radical idea is, that they were to abstain from all connexions with unbelievers--with infidels, and heathens, and those who were not Christians---which would identify them with them; or they were to have no connexion with them in anything as unbelievers, heathens, or infidels; they were to partake with them in nothing that was peculiar to them as such. They were to have no part with them in their heathenism, unbelief, and idolatry, and infidelity; they were not to be united with them in any way or sense where it would necessarily be understood that they were partakers with them in those things. This is evidently the principle here laid down, and this principle is as applicable now as it was then. In the remainder of this verse and the following verses, (2Co 6:15,16,) he states reasons why they should have no such intercourse. There is no principle of Christianity that is more important than that which is here stated by the apostle; and none in which Christians are more in danger of erring, or in which they have more difficulty in determining the exact rule which they are to follow. The questions which arise are very important. Are we to have no intercourse with the people of the world? Are we cut loose from all our friends who are not Christians? Are we to become monks, and live a recluse and unsocial life? Are we never to mingle with the people of the world in business, in innocent recreation, or in the duties of citizens, and as neighbours and friends? It is important, therefore, in the highest degree, to endeavour to ascertain what are the principles on which the New Testament requires us to act in this matter. And in order to a correct understanding of this, the following principles may be suggested: I. There is a large field of action, pursuit, principle, and thought, over which infidelity, sin, heathenism, and the world as such, have the entire control. It is wholly without the range of Christian law, and stands opposed to Christian law. It pertains to a different kingdom; is conducted by different principles; and tends to destroy and annihilate the kingdom of Christ. It cannot be reconciled with Christian principle, and cannot be conformed to but in entire violation of the influence of religion. Here the prohibition of the New Testament is absolute and entire. Christians are not to mingle with the people of the world in these things; and are not to partake of them. This prohibition, it is supposed, extends to the following, among other things: (1.) To idolatry. This was plain. On no account or pretence were the early Christians to partake of that, or to countenance it. In primitive times, during the Roman persecutions, all that was asked was that they should cast a little incense on the altar of a heathen god. They refused to do it; and because they refused to do it, thousands perished as martyrs. They judged rightly; and the world has approved their cause. (2.) Sins vice, licentiousness. This is also plain. Christians are in no way to patronize them, or to lend their influence to them, or to promote them by their name, their presence, or their property. "Neither be partaker of other men's sins," 1Ti 5:22; 2Jo 1:11. (3.) Arts and acts of dishonesty, deception, and fraud, in traffic and trade, Here the prohibition also must be absolute. No Christian can have a right to enter into partnership with another where the business is to be conducted on dishonest and unchristian principles, or where it shall lead to the violation of any of the laws of God. If it involves deception and fraud in the principles on which it is conducted; if it spreads ruin and poverty--as the distilling and vending of ardent spirits does; if it leads to the necessary violation of the Christian Sabbath, then the case is plain. A Christian is to have no "fellowship with such unfruitful works of darkness, but is rather to reprove them," Eph 5:11. (4.) The amusements and pleasures that are entirely worldly, and sinful in their nature; that are wholly under worldly influence, and which cannot be brought under Christian principles. Nearly all amusements are of this description. The rate principle here seems to be, that if a Christian. in such a place is expected to lay aside his Christian principles, and if it would be deemed indecorous and improper for him to introduce the subject of religion, or if religion would be regarded as entirely inconsistent with the nature of the amusement, then he is not to be found there, The world reigns there; and if the principles of his Lord and Master would be excluded, he should not be there. This applies of course to the theatre, the circus, the ball-room, and to large and splendid parties of pleasure. We are not to associate with idolaters in their idolatry; nor with the licentious in their licentiousness; nor with the infidel in his infidelity; nor with the proud in their pride; nor with the gay in their gaiety; nor with the friends of the theatre, or the ball-room, or the circus, in their attachment to these places and pursuits. And whatever other connexion we are to have with them as neighbours, citizens, or members of our families, we are not to participate with them IN these things. Thus far all seems to be clear; and this rule is a plain one, whether it applies to marriage, or to business, or to religion, or to pleasure. Comp. See Barnes for 1Co 5:10. II. There is a large field of action, thought, and plan, which may be said to be common with the Christian and the world; that is, where the Christian is not expected to abandon his own principles, and where there will be, or need be, no compromise of the sternest views of truth, or the most upright, serious, and holy conduct. He may carry his principles with him; may always manifest them if necessary; and may even commend them to others. A few of these may be referred to. (1.) Commercial transactions and professional engagements that are conducted on honest and upright principles, even when those with whom we act are not Christians. (2.) Literary and scientific pursuits, which never, when pursued with a right spirit, interfere with the principles of Christianity, and never are contrary to it. (3.) The love and affection which are due to relatives and friends. Nothing in the Bible assuredly will prohibit a pious son from uniting with one who is not pious in supporting an aged and infirm parent, or a much loved and affectionate sister. The same remark is true also respecting the duty which a wife owes to a husband, a husband to a wife, or a parent to a child, though one of them should not be a Christian. And the same observation is true also of neighbours, who are not to be prohibited from uniting as neighbours in social intercourse, and in acts of common kindness and charity, though all are not Christians. (4.) As citizens. We owe duties to our country; and a Christian need not refuse to act with others in the elective franchise, or in making or administering the laws. Here, however, it is clear that he is not at liberty to violate the laws and the principles of the Bible. He cannot be at liberty to unite with them in political schemes that are contrary to the law of God, or in elevating to office men whom he cannot vote for with a good conscience as qualified for the station. (5.) In plans of public improvement; in schemes that go to the advancement of the public welfare, when the schemes do not violate the laws of God. But if they involve the necessity of violating the Sabbath, or any of the laws of God, assuredly he cannot consistently participate in them. (6.) In doing good to others. So the Saviour was with sinners; so he ate, and drank, and conversed with them: So we may mingle with them, without partaking of their wicked feelings and plans, so far as we can do them good, and exert over them a holy and saving influence. In all the situations here referred to, and in all the duties growing out of them the Christian may maintain his principles, and may preserve a good conscience. Indeed, the Saviour evidently contemplated that his people would have such intercourse with the world, and that in it they would do good. But in none of these is there to be any compromise of principle; in none to be any yielding to the opinions and practices that are contrary to the laws of God. III. There is a large field of action, conduct, and plan, where Christians only will act together. These relate to the peculiar duties of religion--to prayer, Christian fellowship, the ordinances of the gospel, and most of the plans of Christian beneficence. Here the world will not intrude; and here assuredly there will be no necessity of any compromise of Christian principle. For what fellowship. Paul proceeds here to state reasons why there should be no such improper connection with the world. The main reason, though under various forms, is, that there can be no fellowship, no communion, nothing in common between them; and that therefore they should be separate. The word fellowship (metoch) means partnership, participation. What is there in common? or how can the one partake with the other? The interrogative form here is designed to be emphatic, and to declare, in the strongest terms, that there can be no such partnership. Righteousness. Such as you Christians are required to practise; implying that all were to be governed by the stern and uncompromising principles of honesty and justice. With unrighteousness. Dishonesty, injustice, sin; implying that the world is governed by such principles. And what communion, koinwnia. Participation, communion--that which is in common. What is there in common between light and darkness? What common principle is there of which they both partake? There is none. There is a total and eternal separation. Light. The emblem of truth, virtue, holiness. See Barnes for Mt 4:16; See Barnes for Joh 5:16 See Barnes for Joh 1:4; See Barnes for Ro 2:19 See Barnes for 2Co 4:4. It is implied here that Christians are enlightened, and walk in the light. Their principles are pure and holy-- principles of which light is the proper emblem. Darkness. The emblem of sin, corruption, ignorance; implying that the world to which Paul refers was governed and influenced by these. The idea is, that as there is an entire separation between light and darkness in their nature--as they have nothing in common--so it is and should be between Christians and sinners. There should be a separation. There can be nothing in common between holiness and sin; and Christians should have nothing to do "with the unfruitful works of darkness," Eph 5:11.

Today In Bible Prophecy

There seems to be a lot of confusion these days concerning Bible prophecy. Today I would like to break up our Bible study into several different sections. I believe if we keep the study in chronological order it will make more sense. Because the Bible is filled from beginning to end with prophecies we will only be studying the most recent prophecies that were fulfilled and the prophecies yet to be fulfilled. The first section we will be looking at is how do we know we are living in the last days? The second section will deal with the most recent fulfilled Bible prophecies. The third section will cover prophecies concerning the taking away of Gods people or what's commonly called the rapture. The fourth section will cover the prophecies of the Great Tribulation. The fifth section will cover the prophecies of Jesus' second coming. And the last section will be the prophecies of the 1,000 year reign of Christ. In this Bible study we are going to be looking at just a few of the prophecies concerning each event. There are several prophecies for each event and if we listed every prophecy for each event it would be too time consuming. First we need to find out what is the purpose of Bible prophecy? God says that no one knows the future except God and when the events stated by God come to pass you may believe. We can see this in John 13:19, "Now I tell you before it comes, that when it does come to pass, you may believe that I am He."We also see this in John 14:29, "And now I have told you before it comes, that when it does come to pass, you may believe." Section 1, the Last Days Next we are going to take a look at the prophecies concerning the last days to see if we are indeed living in the last days. The first prophecy we will look at can be found in the Book of Daniel 12:4, "But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase." I picked this prophecy because I believe it describes the time we live in perfectly. This verse is saying that travel and knowledge will increase. With the inventions of the space shuttle and the computer at no other time in our history could this prophecy have been fulfilled. In 2 Peter 3:4 we read, "And saying, "Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation." I know I have heard over the years several different people say that the events that are happening to us now are no different than the events that have been occurring since the beginning of time. I am sure my friends did not realize at that time that they were fulfilling Bible prophecy. These next verses describe the current breakdown of morals in our society today. In Romans 1:30-32 we read, "backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them." In 2 Timothy 3:3 we read, "For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good,4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God," Recently (July of 2015) the U.S. Supreme Court legalized gay marriage. The Bible tells us that when homosexuality is no longer hidden and out in the open destruction is near. We can see this in both the times of Noah and the times of Lot. Both Noah and Lot experienced moral breakdown in their societies before the destruction came upon them as we can see in Luke 17:27-29, "They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot: they ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all." It also states in Luke 17:26, "And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man."We also see this in Isaiah 3:9-11, "The look on their countenance witnesses against them, and they declare their sin as Sodom; they do not hide it. Woe to their soul! For they have brought evil upon themselves. Say to the righteous that it shall be well with them, for they shall eat the fruit of their doings. Woe to the wicked! It shall be ill with him, for the reward of his hands shall be given him. The above verse clearly shows us that God is certainly able to deliver the Godly from the ungodly. Section 2, Fulfilled Prophecy The first prophecies we will look at are concerning the state of Israel when in 70 AD the Romans conquered the Jews and scattered them into several different countries. Then in 1948 after 1,878 years of exile Israel became a state again. Just this fact alone is incredible considering that no other race of people who were conquered has ever come back and regained their homeland and keep their identity. Let us first look at the prophecies concerning Israel losing their homeland. We can see this in Psalm 44:11, "You have given us up like sheep intended for food, and have scattered us among the nations."We see this again in Luke 21:24, "And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled." A Gentile is anybody who is not Jewish. In 1967 Israel regained the city of Jerusalem from the Jordanians in the seven day war. This also fulfilled the above verse "until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled." Why did God destroy millions of Jewish people and scatter the rest? We find the answer in Luke 19:43-45, "For days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment around you, surround you and close you in on every side, and level you, and your children within you, to the ground; and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not know the time of your visitation." In the Book of Daniel, Daniel gives the Jewish religious leaders the exact day when their Messiah the Prince would arrive and Zechariah prophesied that Jesus would ride into Jerusalem on a donkey. We see this in Daniel 9:25,""Know therefore and understand, That from the going forth of the command To restore and build Jerusalem Until Messiah the Prince, There shall be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks; The street shall be built again, and the wall, Even in troublesome times."And in Zechariah 9:9, we read ""Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King is coming to you; He is just and having salvation, Lowly and riding on a donkey, A colt, the foal of a donkey."Isaiah, chapter 53 describes in detail the crucifixion of Jesus 750 years before Christ was born. It appears the Scribes and Pharisees' should have spent more time in their scriptures. Let's now look at two of the prophecies concerning Israel regaining their homeland in May of 1948. The first verse we will look at is found in Zechariah 10:8, "I will whistle for them and gather them, for I will redeem them; and they shall increase as they once increased."The second verse is found in Micah 2:12, "I will surely assemble all of you, O Jacob, I will surely gather the remnant of Israel; I will put them together like sheep of the fold, like a flock in the midst of their pasture; they shall make a loud noise because of so many people." The reason I started with these two events in Bible prophecy is because in the Book of Luke it is said that the generation that begins to witnesses these things taking place will not pass away until all things are fulfilled. We can see this in Luke 21: 24-28, "And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. (This event happened in 1967.) "And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near." These things began to happen in 1948 when Israel became a nation again and in 1967 when the Jews regained the city of Jerusalem from the Jordanians. Then He spoke to them a parable: "Look at the fig tree, and all the trees. When they are already budding, you see and know for yourselves that summer is now near. So you also, when you see these things happening, know that the kingdom of God is near. Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all things take place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away. By these verses and the fact that the Jews regained Jerusalem in 1948 and the times of the Gentiles were fulfilled in 1967, we can now see that we are the final generation that will witness Christ's return and Christ's reign on the planet earth. Section 3, The Taking Away of God's People The next prophetic event to take place I believe will be the taking away of God's people and then the Great Tribulation will begin. I have heard arguments for a mid tribulation rapture and a post tribulation rapture. I believe the correct way to settle this argument is to look at how God has handled Himself in the past in similar situations. The Bible states that God is the same yesterday, today and forever. Lot and his family who were living in Sodom were evacuated just before the two angels of God destroyed the city. Moses, his family and all the animals were gathered into the ark before the floods came. God has never made His people suffer because of what the wicked people were doing. We can see this in the Book of Genesis when Abraham was reasoning with God about the destruction of Sodom. In Genesis 18:23-25 we read, "And Abraham came near and said, "Would You also destroy the righteous with the wicked? Suppose there were fifty righteous within the city; would You also destroy the place and not spare it for the fifty righteous that were in it? Far be it from You to do such a thing as this, to slay the righteous with the wicked, so that the righteous should be as the wicked; far be it from You! Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?" We know from the Bible that God did deliver lot and his family from Sodom just before Sodom was destroyed. We also see in 1 Thessalonians 5:9, "For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ."When I hear of Christians who believe they will be going through the tribulation or half way through the tribulation it brings to my mind the verses in the Book of Revelations where Jesus is talking to His church in Thyatira. In Revelations 2:18 we read, "Indeed I will cast her into a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of their deeds." We know by these verses that many Christians will be going through the great tribulation. It could be that these believers who believe they are going to go through the tribulation are in fact these same believers as mentioned in Revelations 2:18. Maybe their right and maybe at the same time we are also correct. I also know that Jesus Christ's Spirit filled believers will be taken up to heaven before the great tribulation starts. We can see this in Revelation 3:10, "Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth." What are some of the prophecies concerning the taking away of God's people? In Corinthians 15:52 we read, "In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed." In Thessalonians 4:16-17 we read, "For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord." I'll give you one more prophecy concerning the taking away of God's people and that is found in Luke 17:33-35, "Whoever seeks to save his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it. I tell you, in that night there will be two men in one bed: the one will be taken and the other will be left. Two women will be grinding together: the one will be taken and the other left." Another argument for the pre-tribulation rapture is when Jesus comes for us we are to meet Him in the air. When Jesus comes to rule the earth for a thousand years He is coming with tens of thousands of His saints riding on white horses as stated in Jude 1:14, "Now Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men also, saying, "Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints," And in revelation 19:14, we read "And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses."We can see by this verse that the army of saints with their white horses originated in heaven. When we meet Jesus in the air the Bible never states that Jesus is bringing with Him tens of thousands of horses. It also doesn't make sense that when Jesus comes with His armies (His saints) for His 2nd coming that we will meet Him in the air, saddle up and come right back down to earth to fight the Devil and his anti-Christ. We have to remember that there are two different events. The first event is Jesus coming for His church and second event is Jesus coming with His church. Section 4, the Great Tribulation Let's take a quick look at a few prophecies concerning the tribulation. We will start with Matthew 24:21, "For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be."Jeremiah 30:7, "Alas! For that day is great, so that none is like it; and it is the time of Jacob's trouble, but he shall be saved out of it."And finally Isaiah 13:13, "Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth will move out of her place, in the wrath of the Lord of hosts and in the day of His fierce anger." The Great Tribulation is an event that nobody is going to want to attend. Billions and billions of people are going to be killed. There are many passages pertaining to this section of Bible prophecy. I will show you just four of them from the Book of Zechariah 13:8, "And it shall come to pass in all the land," Says the Lord, "That two-thirds in it shall be cut off and die, But one-third shall be left in it:"As of July 2015 when I wrote this Bible study there is currently estimated to be 7.1 billion people on this earth. Two thirds dead would be 4.7 billion people. In Zechariah 14:6 we read, "It shall come to pass in that day that there will be no light; the lights will diminish." Scary days are ahead for all the people left on the earth. Food will be scarce and what little food is left will be fought over. We can see this in Zechariah 14:13, "It shall come to pass in that day that a great panic from the Lord will be among them. Everyone will seize the hand of his neighbor, and raise his hand against his neighbor's hand;"In Revelation 13:17, we read "and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name."If you are interested in reading the judgments of God during the tribulation you can read that in Revelation chapters 6 through 19. Section 5, the 2nd Coming of Christ or the Day of the Lord The Bible tells us that the Great Tribulation will be so devastating that if Christ doesn't come early no flesh would be saved. We can see this in Matthew 24:22, "And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect's sake those days will be shortened." The Bible says that Jesus' second coming will be exactly seven years from the start of the tribulation. It is also stated that after the anti-Christ stands in the temple in Jerusalem demanding to be worshiped the second coming of Christ will occur exactly in three and one half years from that day. Once the tribulation starts we thought we knew exactly when Jesus was to return. That is what I originally thought until I read the above verse. This being said there is now no way anybody can accurately predict to the day when the 2nd coming of Christ will occur. We will know that during the seventh year of the tribulation Jesus was originally scheduled to return but how much earlier Jesus is going to come back nobody knows. We know from the above verse that the seven year tribulation will now be less than seven years. Because those times will be so devastating that unless the seven years are shortened there would not be any human beings left alive on the earth! Immediately after the tribulation the people will see Jesus and His saints coming in the clouds. We see this in Matthew 24:29-30, "Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory." We also can get more details of this event from Luke 21:25-28, "And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near." I have heard the question asked on Christian radio "where in the Bible did Jesus ever say that He was coming back?" Let's start with Jesus' own words. In Matthew 26:64, we read, "Jesus said to him, "It is as you said. Nevertheless, I say to you, hereafter you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming on the clouds of heaven." This is so important let's take a look at more of Jesus' own words about His 2nd coming. We'll start with Matthew 25:13 "Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming."Matthew 16:27, "For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works. In Luke 17-24 we read, "For as the lightning that flashes out of one part under heaven shines to the other part under heaven, so also the Son of Man will be in His day." The last one we will use is found in John 14:2-3, "In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also." The Old and New Testaments are full of prophesies concerning the 2nd coming of Christ. The last prophecy we will look at on this subject is the prophecy from the two angels who were standing in the crowd as Jesus ascended into heaven. It is found in Acts 1:11, "who also said, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven." The next prophecy we are going to look at is found in Revelation 1:7, "Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen." There was a time, not so long ago when people would read this passage and ask the question "how is every eye going to see Him?" Now with the invention of telecommunication satellites orbiting our planet this prophecy could now be very easily fulfilled. We also know that when Jesus does return to the earth we, the saints will return with Him. We can see this in Jude 1:14, "Now Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men also, saying, "Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints," We also see this in Zechariah 14:5. "Then you shall flee through My mountain valley, For the mountain valley shall reach to Azal. Yes, you shall flee as you fled from the earthquake In the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Thus the Lord my God will come, And all the saints with You." The last prophecy we will look at in this section is found in Zechariah 14:4, "And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, Which faces Jerusalem on the east. And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two, from east to west, making a very large valley; half of the mountain shall move toward the north and half of it toward the south. The Seven Jewish Feast Festivals One subject I feel is important to talk about and has hardly even been mentioned by Christian radio is the seven Jewish feast days as written in the Book of Leviticus chapter 23. The reason these days are important to Bible prophecy is the same seven feast days that the Jewish people celebrate today will also be celebrated during the thousand year reign of Jesus Christ. We see this in Colossians 2:16-17,"So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or Sabbaths, which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ." Why is this important to Bible prophecy? Look at what has happened so far. 1. Feast of Passover Jesus Crucified 2. Feast of Unleaven bread Jesus Entombed 3. Feast of Firstfruits Resurrection of Jesus 4. Feast of Weeks Pentecost, The Holy Spirit Given to Man Four of the seven feast days have already been fulfilled by Jesus and the Holy Spirit at His first coming. Would it surprise you to find out that the last three feast days will also be fulfilled by Jesus at His second coming? This is how I see the last three feast days fulfilled. 5. Feast of Trumpets The Taken Away of God's People (This is the next prophecy to be fulfilled) 6. Day of Atonement Marriage Supper of The Lamb 7. Feast of Tabernacles God Lives With Man We can see an example of the people celebrating the Feast of Tabernacles during the thousand year reign of Christ here on the earth. The passage is found in Zechariah 14:16, " And it shall come to pass that everyone who is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles." What are the prophecies concerning when the second coming of Christ will happen? To answer this question we have to start with the Book of Peter. We read in Peter that with God one day is as one thousand years and a thousand years is as one day. This being said we will start with the Prophecy found in Hosea 6:2, "After two days He will revive us; on the third day He will raise us up, that we may live in His sight." We also know that when Jesus was crucified He was entombed and was resurrected on the beginning of the third day. Most people believe that Jesus will return at the end of the two thousand years and at the beginning of the three thousandth year. That seems simple enough except most people started their count at Jesus 'birth instead of at Jesus' resurrection. That is the reason why at the end of the century there were so many false predictions about the second coming of Christ. If we take the date of the resurrection of Christ on April 6th 32 AD and we know that He is due to return after two thousand years then I would look for the return of Christ sometime after April 6th 2032 and probably at the Feast of Tabernacles. That being said we can also deduct seven years from that date to arrive at the date that God comes for His people or what is called the rapture of the church. I would expect this to happen at the Feast of Trumpets on 2025. Keep in mind that this is an educated guess. God is God and He can come anytime He chooses. The wise man will be ready now. I am writing this in July of 2015. Currently there is a lot of talk about Christ taking His people on The Feast of Tabernacles on September 23rd. This prediction is mostly due to the fact of the seven blood moons occurring on the last seven Jewish Festivals. I have my doubts about this occurring at this time because of what I have already written and if it were to happen I believe it would be at the Feast of Trumpets on September 13 and not at the Feast of Tabernacles. So why is there so much discrepancy about when Jesus is to return? I keep hearing people say "Jesus has been gone for two thousand years now and His return should be any day now. Jesus died April 6th 32AD. It is now July 2015. Jesus has been gone for 1,983 years. When Jesus returns at the beginning of the third day it would put His return sometime after April 6th, 2032. This date would fulfill "the beginning of the third day or after 2000 years." The Book of Enoch (which is quoted in the Book of Jude 1:14) divides the Messianic kingdoms into four segments 12, 23, 23, 12. If you then add these four numbers together it comes to 70. I don't believe that 70 is a coincidence. I believe that the 70 is the same 70 as referred to in the book of Daniel 9:24, "Seventy weeks are determined For your people and for your holy city, To finish the transgression, To make an end of sins, To make reconciliation for iniquity, To bring in everlasting righteousness, To seal up vision and prophecy, And to anoint the Most Holy."

Rewards of the Christian Life

The Christian life is portrayed as a race by the writer of Hebrews. "Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:1,2. Many Bible Scholars feel that the Apostle Paul was probably the writer of Hebrews because verses like these are closely related to many of his other writings. In other cases, Paul compares himself with the racers and competitors in the Isthmian games which were celebrated in the city of Corinth. This comparison made an allusion which was well known to the people of Paul's day and therefore was a great teaching metaphor. The competitors who ran in these games were duly qualified both by character and ability. The distance and width of the course were clearly marked out. The prize that was to be won was set forth. Judges were chosen and sworn to judge impartially. The starting signal was given and the race was run. The winner was carried to the judge, the prize was given and a crown placed on the winner's head. The name of the winner was proclaimed to the great assembly of people. The Christian race is so compared. The Christian must be qualified both by character and ability. The Christian must pursue the course with patience and perseverance. After completing the race the successful Christian is brought before the Judge where he/she is rewarded and crowned with glory. The Christian race is not any race, but a particular race. It is, "The race set before us". The course of the race is the road of life. The length of it is a lifetime. The width of it is the size of the world. This course has many challenges and many temptations to turn the runner aside. The riches and cares, the company and amusements, the pleasures and influence of the world are all dead weights which must be "laid aside" so they don't hinder the Christian runner. The progress of the Christian in this race depends on several things. The Christian must keep to the course and not turn out of the way. Some run the race well for a while and then turn aside. The Christian must stay on course. The middle of the course is the safest place to run. Constant progress must be made and the runner must continue patiently under all difficulties. The prize must be kept in view. The nature of the prize in the Christian race is different from worldly races. Scripture represents this prize as rewards under the figure of a trophy or crown. There are various crowns that may be rewarded to Christians when they complete this race of life. The Incorruptible Crown - I Corinthians 9:24-25. "Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishible crown. " In the Christian's duty, all run that they might obtain this crown. All that finish get the prize, not just the winner. The Christian runner is described as being "temperate in all things". Much self-denial was practiced by the Olympic runners Paul mentioned. They kept to a strict diet and discipline. Should not the Christian much more curtail themselves of their liberty for the glorious prize set before them? Christians must deny self and keep the body under "bringing it into subjection", (I Corinthians 9:27). The Christian runner faces hardship and is always in close combat just as any competitor. Paul mentions one enemy of the Christian runner (the body) which must be brought under subjection. Paul is referring to those fleshly appetites and inclinations. The Crown of Life - James 1:12, "Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the "crown of life" which the Lord has promised to those who love Him". This reward is given to the Christian who endures and who with patience and constancy goes through all trials and difficulties in the way of his duty. It seems that in the duties of Christians they sometimes run across difficulties and disappointments so much that they begin to lose interest and hope of their duty. They may even wonder if it is worth it all to continue the race. The enduring of temptations and trials must be from a principle of love to God and Jesus Christ, otherwise there is no interest in the Crown. This reward should enforce the idea that Christians will eventually be approved by God for all their trails. It will be the Christian's blessedness to finally receive the Crown of Life. The Crown of Glory - I Peter 5:1-4, "The elders who are among you I exhort, I who am a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that will be revealed: Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as overseers, not by compulsion but willingly, not for dishonest gain but eagerly; nor as being lords over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock; and when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the Crown of Glory that does not fade away". This reward is specifically given to pastors, elders, presbyters, spiritual leaders of the Church. It is promised to those who "feed the flock" by preaching and teaching God's Word. It is for Christians who "take oversight thereof"; who take time to minister personal care over the flock committed to their charge. It is for Christians who are "examples to the flock"; those who practice holiness, self-denial, and all other Christian duties. It is for those who share in Christ's sufferings. Jesus Christ is the Chief Shepherd of the flock. He bought them, rules them, defends them, and saves them. Jesus is also Chief Shepherd over all other shepherds who obtain their authority from Him, act in His name, and are accountable to Him. Jesus, the Chief Shepherd, shall appear to judge all ministers and under-shepherds, to call them to account, whether they have faithfully discharged their duty both publicly and privately according to His directions. To those that are found to have done their duty shall receive what is infinitely better than temporal gain. They shall receive from the Chief Shepherd a high degree of everlasting glory - A Crown of Glory that will never fade away. The Crown of Rejoicing - I Thessalonians 2:19,20. "For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Is it not even you in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at His coming? For you are our glory and joy". This Crown of Rejoicing is won through soul-winning. Christians must take time in their race to listen to the Holy Spirit and share with others what they have in Jesus. What a glory and honor it is go be used of the Holy Spirit to lead others into a saving knowledge of the Son of God. The Crown of Righteousness - 2 Timothy 4:7,8. "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race. I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing". This crown will be the recompense of all the services Christians have offered, which God is not unrighteous to forget. This crown will be given "at that day", at the time when the Christian's holiness and righteousness will be perfected. It is the day Christ returns. It will be given by the righteous Judge and not only to apostles and prominent ministers, but to all those that love His appearing. It should be the character of all Christians to look forward to the appearing of Jesus Christ with love and to long for it. This Crown is laid up for all believers. It is given to those who have finished their course by fighting a good fight. In a good fight one may lose a few rounds, but is is how hard one fights that makes a good fight. It is given to those who have kept the faith. It is given to Christians who never allowed their faith to falter, but have always looked to their faith for their final victory. Christ will come again to judge the works of believers and to give these rewards that they are entitled. The Christian will be judged as to the use of his talents and opportunities that have been given to him. The Christian will be judged on how he has used these talents while running the Christian race. Paul says that while Christians are saved by grace, they are saved unto good works, Ephesians 2:8-10. In other words, the Lord has given His people an opportunity to lay up treasures in heaven now. This should help Christians overcome discouragements Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/3882729

Understanding the Christian Way of Life

The Christian way of life is the pillar and support of the truth and should be concerned about congregational purity. The entire life course of a faithful Christian is actually governed by faith, enabling them to overcome obstacles that would hinder their service to the true God. The Christian congregation serves as a "pillar and support of the truth," preserving the purity of the truth, defending and upholding it. (1 Tim, 3:15) The Christian way to upholding the truth is especially important when those entrusted with oversight in the congregation are able to handle the "word of the truth" aright. Proper use of God's Word enables True Christians to combat false teaching in the congregation, instructing "those not favorably disposed; as perhaps God may give them repentance leading to an accurate knowledge of truth." The disciple James wrote: "who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show out of his fine conduct the works with a meekness that belongs to wisdom. But if you have bitter envy and self seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth." The Christian way to seeking true understanding is through prayer to God: "Give me understanding, and I shall keep Your law; Indeed I shall observe it with my whole heart. The righteousness of Your testimonies is everlasting; Give me understanding, and I shall live." (Ps 119:34, 144) This is the right Christian motive. The apostle prayed for the Colossian Christians that they might be "filled with knowledge of God's will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding in order to walk worthily of the Lord." (Col 1:9-10) For the Christian congregation to be "a pillar and support of the truth," the Christian members thereof must, through fine conduct, manifest the truth in their lives. (Eph 5:9) They have to be consistent and undeviating in right conduct, as if "girded about with truth." (Eph 6:14) Besides maintaining personal purity, Christians must be concerned about congregational purity. When emphasizing the need to keep the Christian congregation clean from the defilement of lawless persons, the apostle Paul wrote: "Purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us. Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth." (1 Cor. 5:7-8) By God's helping with our Christian way, one can come to an "understanding heart," that is, to learn right motive and also be able to discern bad motives, one's own or those of others (Prov 8:5), and by adhering to right motivation can avoid being distracted, misled or sidetracked into a devious and foolish course, and instead can be upright and head straight for one's goal. (Prov 15:21) What it means to follow the Christian way is this: Jesus extended the invitation to be His follower, saying: "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me." (Matt 16:24) Those who are true Christian have full faith that Jesus is God's specially Anointed One and only begotten Son, the Promised Seed who sacrificed His human life as a ransom, was resurrected and exalted to the right hand of God, and the one who received authority to subdue his enemies and vindicate God's name.(Matt 20:28) Christians view the Bible as the inspired Word of God, absolute truth beneficial for teaching and disciplining mankind.(Matt 17:17) and (2 Tim 3:16) More is required of true Christians than mere confession of faith through the Christian way. It is necessary that belief be demonstrated by works. (James 2: 17, 26) Born as sinners, those who follow the Christian way and repent, (turn around) dedicate their lives to God's worship and service, and submit to water baptism.(Matt 28:19) From then on they keep themselves clean from fornication, and idolatry. (Acts 15:20, 29) They strip off old personalities with their fits of anger, obscene talk, lying, stealing, drunkenness, and "things like these," and bring their lives into accord with Bible principles.(Gal 5:19-21) Peter wrote to Christians, "Let none of you suffer as a murderer or a thief or an evildoer or as a busybody in other people's matters," (1 Pet 4:15) Our Christian way is to be kind and considerate, mild tempered and long-suffering, lovingly exercising self-control. (5:22-23) Christians provide and care for their own and love their neighbors as themselves. (1Tim 5:8) and (Matt 22:36-40) The main identifying quality by which true Christians are recognized is the outstanding love they have toward one another. "By this," Jesus said, "all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love among yourselves." (John 13:34-35 Christianity is the way of the truth (2 pet 2:2) and those who assist others in furthering the interests of the Christian way become "fellow workers in the truth." (3 John 8) The entire body of Christian teachings, which latter became part of the written Word of God, is the "truth" or the "truth of the good news." Adherence to or 'walking' in this truth is essential for an individual to gain salvation. (Rom 2:8 2, Cor 4:2, Eph 1:13) In the case of those who conduct themselves aright, the truth, the conformity of their Christian ways to God's Word and the actual results of their course, testifies to the fact that they are examples worthy of imitation.(3 John 11-12) True Christians imitate Jesus' example as the Great Teacher and Faithful Witness of God. (John 18:37) "Go make disciples of people of all the nations, teaching them to do the same things I taught you to do," is their Leader's command, and in carrying it out Christians urge people everywhere to put their hope and confidence in God's Kingdom. Why Most Christians Are Nominal Christians

Spiritual development in our churches can be gauged by the extent to which their members have become genuine Christians. But as this article will show, most Christians or members of these churches are just nominal Christians. According to current statistics there are more or less 2 billion Christians in the world. That is one third of the world's population. These belong to different churches, denominations or religious groups. If all of these were genuine Christians we would not be in a mess of so much poverty, crimes, violence and environmental degradation. The problem is that most of these so-called Christians are only nominal, not genuine. They have not even begun so much as an inch in their spiritual development. They are nominal because they are Christians in name only. A majority of them are called Christians because they were christened or baptized. Others consider themselves Christians because they were born of Christian parents and/or were dedicated by their parents in the church. Still others think that they are Christians because besides having been baptized they go to a Christian church for worship and have prayed the prayer to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. They are also nominal Christians because their leaders may not have realized that they themselves are also nominal Christians. Thinking that they are real Christians, they think that their followers are also real Christians. There have been many attempts to make these nominal Christians into genuine Christians but the effectiveness of these attempts have been very minimal. Why? Why are the results minimal? I give three reasons for this state of affairs. There may be more. Reason 1 is that most Christians are satisfied with nominal Christianity. This kind of Christianity is enough for their classification in the census of their government, in their day to day lives, in getting their marriage license and contract, in enrolling their children in school, in applying for a job, in dying and getting burial services in the church. Since they are already satisfied with this kind of Christianity, they do not see the need of improving upon it or of making it genuine. Reason 2 is that the Christian leaders who realize that most Christians are only nominal do not fully know how genuine Christians are formed and how different they are from nominal Christians. They just keep on hoping that by their homilies or preaching, by Sunday schools or catechism classes or seminars before the administration of the sacraments or by their theology or religious studies subjects in school (now called mostly values education), by small group Bible studies or in their various church related organizations, their followers will become genuine Christians. They think that nominal Christianity and genuine Christianity exist in a continuum, from the most nominal Christianity to the most genuine Christianity with intermediary grades or levels between these extremes of the continuum. These leaders do not realize that the difference between nominal and genuine Christianity is not one of degree but of kind. The one is not real, it is zero. The other is real, it has a positive content, at least 1, so to speak. Reason 3 is that most who desire to lead others to genuine Christianity do not know how this is effectively done, in a way that there are substantial and lasting results. Look at this example. A crusade is organized in a nominally Christian locality. The leaders and followers of different cooperating churches and denominations work out the whole crusade, from the scheduling, the choice of and invitation to an evangelist, the preparation for the venue, etc., up to the publicity of the crusade and daily prayers for the success of the crusade. The crusade is done on schedule. Hundreds profess to receive Christ as Lord and Savior and are channeled to local churches for baptism and discipleship training. The newly professed now populate the local churches and they remain there or go back to their former churches or just drop from both. For a while the locality experiences a positive change. Fewer people get drunk at night, more attendance in churches is observed, fewer acts of criminality occur. After several months or a year or two conditions become "normal" again: increasing number of crimes and stable or declining numbers in church attendance. Genuine Christianity has not really invaded that locality. There was only a facelift of nominal Christianity. Sure, some lives here and there are drastically changed. A former gambler now becomes a student of the Bible and he will become a preacher soon. A prostitute now stops her trade and becomes a choir member. But the impact on the society as a whole is minimal. Jesus came to give us genuine Christianity, not nominal Christianity. When we have a constantly increasing number of spiritually developed Christians, we will have genuine Christianity. Spiritual development is our need as Christians. Women in Christianity

"Women in Christianity" is a vast and complex subject with multiple dimensions as Christianity is one of the largest religions in the world practiced in different societies and cultures around the world. When we deal with the subject of "Women in Christianity" we need to understand that Christianity as that exists today is a mix of different denominations with Catholics and Protestants being the principle denominations. Further it would be prudent to delve into the history of Christianity to understand the role of women in this religion. In early Christianity there was no separate roles prescribed for men and women and women were not distinguished separately from men. This was despite the fact that the society in West Asia at that time was highly patriarchal in nature. Women in Christianity: The early Christian prophets From West Asia, Christianity spread to ancient Greece and Rome which were purely patriarchal societies. In these societies women and children were thought of as assets or possessions held by the head of the family. Men and Women were distinguished separately in this kind of set up and women were generally considered inferior to men. During these times Christians believed that the world will end soon and Christ will come to earth for the second time. There were many women teachers and prophets in Christianity in those days who believed in this proposition and went their way in preaching this doctrine. Women in Christianity: Development of the patriarchal thought But the initial belief of the immediate "second coming" of the Christ did not happen. From hereon Christianity slowly started to evolve as a systemized religion with the churches enjoying enormous clout and power. This led to the development of the patriarchal thought in Christianity which abolished and discarded the earlier view that men and women should not be distinguished separately. The havoc of the power of churches continued for the next two thousand years during which women were not only treated as inferior to men but great atrocities were committed against independent women who were branded as witches and hunted down mercilessly. Women in Christianity: Wave of change in twentieth century Only in the twentieth century things started changing in Christianity. With the churches losing much of their clout and power in the twentieth century, with democratic governments firmly established in many countries in Europe as well as in America and with religion getting separated from politics things started to change in a dramatic fashion in Christianity that was never thought about in the last two thousand years of the religion. It all started with the early feminist movements and peaked with the second wave of feminism from the period of 1960s. This period saw a profound change in the status of women in Christianity as a religion. Women's rights came in the forefront. Women in Christianity: Feminist Theology Feminist theology was established as a branch of feminism to study the role of women especially in Christianity. The feminist theological movement influenced the development of the Wisdom literature that expressed God through a feminine image. Women in Christianity: Women's liberation movement The period of 1960s and thereafter can be considered as the beginning of the "women's liberation movement" in history which advocated social, cultural, political and religious equality of the gender. Though the women's liberation movement went full throttle in this period the patriarchal set up did not vanish as such and the concept of sexual dualism still existed. This concept not only viewed the differences between men and women in mere biological terms but it also ranked and applied values to these differences. For instance, men were considered to be more idealistic, spiritual, and psychic than women. On the other hand, women were thought to be more emotional, instinctive, and physical than men. This was a senario of absolute "gender stereotyping" and it existed from last two thousand years. In fact this kind of sexual dualism originated from the Greek philosophers like Aristotle and Christianity had adopted it since then. It was only the women's movement in 1960s that challenged these kind of thinking to some affect. Women in Christianity: Marian devotion The patriarchal Christianity surprisingly also witnessed another phenomenon that is the Marian devotion. Catholics were highly influenced by this whereas the Protestants rejected this phenomenon. Marian devotion even affected the feminist movement in both ways. One school of thought believed that the Marian devotion helped to offer the feminine view on God where as the other school of thought believed that the Marian devotion in fact harmed the feminist movement. They said that proclaiming Mary as Virgin Mary and worshiping her in fact in this form is damaging to the cause of women as "women and womanhood" are elevated to the "high pedestal of morality" and they are inhibited or discouraged to express or explore the more humane side of their nature. The sexual and cultural revolution of the 1970s and 80s precisely wanted to break free from this high pedestals of morality attached to women and womanhood. Women in Christianity: The two parallel movements After 1960s the emergence of two parallel movements took place in Christianity as a religion and the society in general. These two movements were the liberal and conservative movements. These two parallel movements exist till date. The more liberal feminist theological movement is influenced by the goddess worship, wisdom literature, Jesus' movement and Marian devotion. On the other hand the religious right within Christianity works on the principal of sexual dualism. The religious right tries to find values only within an established tradition and they resist change of any kind to an established order. The religious right opposes the liberal reproductive rights of women especially the right to abortion, it rejects cloning technology, it rejects homosexuality and it seeks reestablishment of traditional family ideals based on the patriarchal system. Initially the religious right was only involved with the faith but after the 1970s they have increased their presence in the matters of politics so that they can influence mainstream culture and society in a more profound manner. This is especially true in America. It is natural that the religious right hates feminists. They fear that women will assert themselves, gradually obtain various rights, and ultimately threaten the position of men. For the religious right the advancement of women in society means that they will ultimately take over the jobs of men. Also, they feel that the differences in traditional gender roles are quite essential. However, from the viewpoint of feminists, gender roles are never absolute or essential. They feel that these were formed within society, and that the concept of "gender" was established to analyze and distinguish the differences in the roles of men and women. Women in Christianity: The religious right and the liberal feminist theological movement It is quite natural that the Religious Right criticizes feminists, who challenge the superiority of men. They in fact resist everything about the feminist movement. For example they even dislike the liberal welfare policies for women because under such policies, single mothers who need to raise their children and the economically destitute are assisted financially. The Religious Right view such assistance as preventing the establishment of traditional families. They also reject the relativism of human existence and therefore they are intolerant to other views, cultures and religions. They believe in the absolutism and purity of Christian values and tradition. For the religious right "Patriarchal Christianity" is the central core of all existence. Anything outside this central core has to be resisted and absolutely rejected. In relation to the role of "women in Christianity" we can see that now we have two parallel schools of thought that exits within the religion as well as in the society. These are the liberal feminist theological movement and the conservative religious right movement. Though this being the current scenario it is not a static situation and there is a continuous evolution that is taking place in regard to the "role of women in Christianity" as it had happened in the last two hundred years or so. Further to understand the role of Women in Christianity we need to study the following topics in detail 1. Women and the genesis of Christianity 2. Women and Christianity- This includes subtopics like Women of faith surviving but not reporting abuse. 3. Sexuality and early Christianity. 4. How Christianity Changed the World-This includes subtopics like freedom and dignity for women. 5. The advent of the Religious right and the goals of the Religious right. 6. Feminist theology-This includes subtopics like Re-interpretation of the historical origins of Christianity, re-examination of the Bible from the viewpoint of Women, Biblical translation using "Inclusive Language", formation of new understandings of God, networks of women from Different cultures, sharing methodology with sexual minorities and presenting new views on ecology. The changes that happened in the Christian society in the last two hundred years have also affected other cultures and religions in a profound manner. The feminist movement owes its roots to the Christian society and thanks to it feminism has become a global phenomenon today which advocates gender based equality and ending of all types of discriminations and bias against women. In fact the study of the role of "women in Christianity" transcends the spectrum of "religion" and gives us a broad perspective of the struggle of women from the last 200 years for a right to a dignified and meaningful life. Faith, Salvation, Born Again, and Judgment Simplified

The Word of God stands true and solid, with His messages of faith, receiving salvation, being born again and ultimately judged consistent and clear. Salvation comes to a Christian through faith, and faith is given by the LORD GOD. A Christian must have faith that the blood of Jesus Christ was shed for the redemption of the Christian's sins. There is nothing a person can do to save himself from sin. It is only through faith in Jesus Christ, and his crucifixion and resurrection, that a person can receive salvation. When a person receives the promise of salvation, he receives the promise that he will be forgiven of all sin, be judged innocent, and saved from the judgment of eternal damnation. Faith is the condition of believing. Christians cannot receive salvation from judgment of eternal damnation until they face Jesus Christ on His Judgment throne. Christians believe in God's promise that they will be forgiven of all sin as a result of Christ's crucifixion. A Christian must have Faith of this promise throughout his life, and even into his physical death. This faith results in the reward of salvation, through the Grace of God. To demonstrate the commitment to have faith in this promise, and the desire to stop sinning, and the will to walk with Jesus Christ with him as Master, the Christian often says the "Sinners Prayer". This prayer tells Jesus that they believe. The prayer does not save the person. Only the faith that Jesus will redeem their sins with his blood come Judgment Day will save them. But this prayer does offer a focus point for the contrite sinner, and gives them a starting point of formal commitment to faith and walk with Jesus Christ. This is important...The moment a person truly believes that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, walked on the earth, died for them, and resurrected, and as a result, they are promised salvation through the redemption of his shed blood...then they are saved and promised to receive the judgment of innocent and the reward of life eternal at the Judgment Seat of Christ. That's all it takes to be saved on Judgment Day...BELIEF! Once faith for salvation is known then the Foundation of Jesus Christ can be solidly laid. Having faith of salvation through the sacrificed blood of Jesus Christ is all that is necessary to receive the promised salvation from eternal damnation. The process of receiving salvation through this sacrificed blood is called Redemption. At the designated time on Judgment Day, all believing Christians who come to Jesus on the Judgment Throne will have their sins redeemed through his shed blood, and they will be judged innocent as a result of their faith in him. NOW...Salvation is not the ticket to Heaven. Salvation is the promise of a verdict of innocence following the redemption of blood, and avoiding the sentence of eternal damnation. Many misguided, young, and self focused Christians think that Heaven is the promised reward for salvation and a permanent place that everybody who is good gets to go to at their death. It is not. Heaven is a temporary dwelling place for the LORD GOD and His Spirits, Jesus Christ, the angels, and the saints who are righteous. Heaven is going to come to an end one day, at the moving of the LORD GOD. All of the saints in Heaven will one day populate the New Earth, along with all of the others judged favorably on Judgment Day and who receive the verdict of eternal life. Righteous means to be free of sin. Faith does not remove sin from a live body! Even though you have faith, original sin still dwells within you. There is only one way a person that is alive and walking the earth can become righteous. The original sin must leave his body. There is only one way that sin can leave the body and that is through the death of the body. The moment the body dies, sin has no hold, and dies. But here's the problem... When you die with sin still within you, then you must go to your grave. Sinful people do not get to rest in Heaven for awhile. In fact, that's why death exists to start with. Because there is sin, then death must come to man. So the dead in sin stay in their graves until they are resurrected on the Day of Rapture, just before the rapture of those living Christians which will occur before the great Judgment Day. There is a much better option laid out for Christians. The Baptism of Jesus Christ causes the body to die, and the sins to die in a faithful Christian. If a Christian goes under the baptismal waters to their grave, they die and the original sin's control is removed from them. When the Christian comes up out of the baptismal waters and in faith experiences the same resurrection that Jesus did, then they come out of the waters sin free and new. This new person, free from original sin, is called Born Again. The born again Christian is a new being, and sin free Baptized Christians have two options available to them to remain sin free, and increase their righteousness through His Will. The first one is the authority of Jesus Christ to forgive sin on earth. When a baptized Christian commits sin, he has the opportunity to confess, repent, and return to a righteous state through forgiveness of Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit Baptism, a baptism accomplished through the laying on of hands by an apostle of Jesus Christ, is also given to baptized Christians. When the Holy Spirit is infused into a baptized believer, then that Christian has all of his innocent sins burned away, helping to maintain a righteous state. When the baptized and faithful Christian experiences a physical death, he is immediately taken to Heaven. This Christian will not feel the sting of death or lie in the grave for even an instant. The baptized and faithful Christian is immediately taken to Heaven, where he rests for a time in the bosom of the LORD GOD, until the rest of the LORD GOD's plans are completed. At the establishment of the new earth and the new heavens, the Christian will assume a new life along with all of the favorably judged people who stood before the throne of Jesus Christ. This New Earth life will be ruled by the Savior Jesus Christ, and will begin its existence with sin free people who love the LORD GOD, and humbled forever by the undeserved grace and salvation received as a result of His Son's Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/247917
