Keys To Effective Christian Living - Practice The Word

A person who hears the Word, but refuses or neglects to act upon the written Word of God deceives himself or herself. This is what the scared Scriptures teach.
It is the doer of the Word who is blessed in his or her deeds. To simply read the Bible is not sufficient. We must learn to practice the Word of God.
Growing in the faith of the Lord Jesus Christ takes diligent time and effort on our part. Granted that God has sent His Holy Spirit to help us live this life, there is a part we must do, a responsibility we must bear and a role we must play in our spiritual growth and development.
The Word works.
If we apply ourselves and do what the Holy Bible, God's Word, tells us to do, surely we shall receive what God has promised that we will receive. To hear the Word and not do it will not profit us.
This is hard to take, but nonetheless true, that the reason many are not living in the blessings of God is because they have not learned to be doers of the Word.
For instance, the Word teaches us not to worry, fret and have anxiety about anything, but to pray and cast our cares, worries and concerns, once and for all on God, who cares for us affectionately and cares about us watchfully. (1 Peter 5:7, Amplified Bible)
Are we practicing the Bible? Someone may say, "Well, I prayed." Yes, but have you stopped worrying? The Holy Bible tells us not to fret or have anxiety about anything. So the first step, even before praying, is to stop worrying. Did you give the problem to God? Did you cast your care upon the Lord? Well, if you gave it to Him, He has it. What are you still worrying about?
Well, someone may say, suppose God does not come true for me? What then? My friend, if God cannot handle your situation, you might as well forget it. God can handle anything you place in His care, provided that you are doing your part.
So, if you are praying, and still worrying, then you do not qualify for answered prayer. Are you doing the Word.
The Word teaches us to forgive all who may wrong us, whether they did it intentionally or not. The Holy Bible says that we will not be forgiven if we do not forgive those who wrong us. Are we doing the Word. Maybe, just maybe, this is one of the reasons why we are having so little answers to our prayers. We hold people in. We remember how they treated us. We continually call to mind what they have done to us. We resent them and wish them harm for their mistreatment.
Some of us even ask God to take vengeance on them, on our behalf. We do not practice forgiveness. And yet, we attend church, say prayers, sing worship songs and lift up our hands. We prophesy. We speak with tongues. We cast out devils. And we do all of us without the realization that God does not even hear us or regard our prayer.
I can hear some of you reading this, saying, WHAT?
But remember what the Scriptures teach. If you refuse to forgive others, God has said He will not forgive you. As a matter of fact, He has stated that if you regard iniquity in your heart, He will not hear you.
So, forgive.
Forgive, let go and release those who have wronged you, and then ask God to forgive you. You will then experience the release of the Lord and can boldly and confidently ask the Father for that which you desire, and realize His blessings in your life.
Be a doer of the Word. Do what the Word says do. It will draw you closer to God. It will bring more of His blessings, provision and favor into your life. And it will cause more light from the Word to come alive within you. For when we do the Word that we know, God will then reveal more Word to us, for we have proven ourselves faithful.
